Carp Stalking

15 Jun, 2026, No comments
In order to broaden my horizons, I have recently focused more intently on fly fishing. I find the active pursuit of carp in spring particularly exciting. Scouting for the fish and targeting them on sight is extremely thrilling. It is genuinely fascinating to observe how cautious and adaptable carp are.

Especially shallow areas and small canals serve as the absolute hotspots during the spring season.

Baltic Sea - Sea trout

28 May, 2026, No comments
Year after year, I travel to the Baltic Sea to fish for sea trout. This year's trip was particularly thrilling as we were blessed with perfect sea trout weather. Favorable winds and the resulting good currents allowed for fantastic angling for the 'fish of a thousand casts.' I focused intently on fly fishing, a decision that was ultimately rewarded with success.

Good weather, great fish, good times.

Toman Fishing in Malaysia

15 May, 2026, No comments
While on a business trip to Malaysia, I had the rare opportunity to spend my free time on a very special fishing excursion: targeting Toman. What at first seemed like a spontaneous side trip quickly evolved into one of the most thrilling fishing experiences of my life.

Anyone who has the opportunity to fish for Toman in Malaysia should absolutely seize it – it is an adventure that uniquely combines angling, nature, and raw thrills.

"Tanz in den Mai"

The trout season has been open for some time, yet there has been little opportunity for soft bait fishing so far. As is well known, trout stay very close to the riverbed early in the season. For this precise reason, a soft plastic lure is often an excellent choice.

The successful lure in this instance was the 6cm perch soft plastic (BG06).

Cold Water, Big Lures

10 Feb, 2026, No comments
In the dead of winter, I like to go for big lures. In my experience, the strikes on what seems like oversized prey are especially decisive. With cold water temperatures, I’ve honestly had nothing but good experiences so far.

The successful lure in this case was the 19 cm Hechtgummi (HG19).

Nice double trouble

Two decent zander in one evening — that actually happens quite rarely in my waters. Still, it’s always great to see that they’re still around.

The lure of the day was the ZG17 in gold glitter.

Pike Likes Perch

30 Jan, 2026, No comments

During the cold days, I came up with a few new designs and sprayed various models with them. In fact, so many that I can hardly keep up with actually fishing them all :-D

Short, cold days don’t exactly make it any easier to get off the couch either.

Here being tested: the HG15 — the 15 cm version of the “Hechtgummi”.

Fat Winter Pike

Sometimes you just need a bit of luck. After the temperatures became a little more pleasant again over the last few days, I had to head out and pull a few soft plastics through the water. I was quite surprised when, at dusk, the rod suddenly bent over hard.

The fat pike couldn’t resist a prototype HG13.

The Mandatory Christmas Zander

8 Jan, 2026, No comments
As almost every year, the mission was to catch a Christmas zander. The additional challenge was my personal harvest window, which is unfortunately very narrow and lies between 62 cm and 68 cm. But it worked out ;-)

2026-01-08.JPG

The successful lure, as so often, was my ZG13 in the original gold/brown glitter color.

A striped Dutchman

I was able to catch this great winter perch during a short trip to Holland. The weather conditions were anything but great. Wind from the northeast and temperatures below zero degrees. That's exactly why I was extremely happy about this catch.

2026-01-05.jpg

Once again, my successful lure was the BG06.

Garage time

Especially in sub-zero temperatures, like we've had in recent weeks, I find it particularly easy to spend time in my workshop and try out new things. Most of the time, these are ideas I've been carrying around for a long time, but the time spent on the water has prevented me from putting them into practice.

2026-01-04.jpg

If there are a few warm days before the closed season, I will try to catch a big winter pike.

Great Winter Perch on BG06

2 Jan, 2026, No comments
A short visit to the Danube paid off despite cold temperatures and resulted in a great winter perch. Once you find the fish, small lures can be very effective even in winter.

In this case, I used an old prototype that I happened to find in my tackle box 😄
